The Godfather of New York

"One small step for a man looking to be president, and having the cash to make it possible."- Hyman Roth to Michael Corleone in The Godfather Part 2

So, you think you know your Governor?

As I watched this epic film novel (You’ve got to do the leg work!), I could not help but see the Corleones as the Cuomos.

I saw Andrew as Michael.

In the following fiction-to-life comparison, you might be astonished at how the governor's youthful preparation and his family connections, along with his greed, corruption, and lust for power, is not exceeded by Don Vito Michael Corleone.

I am not saying that Andrew Cuomo is an Italian Mafia leader…

No.

I am saying that he is a Democrat Mafia leader!

The story is told in parody:

Let me introduce you to the Godfather of New York.

We Begin this epic tale of power lust at the birth of the future Don Andrew.

Andrew Mark Cuomo was born on December 6th, 1957 in Queens N.Y. into a powerful political family.

He’s the son of Don Mario - A three term Governor of New York.

The young Andrew absorbed the sense of power and influence that surrounded him from birth until he was ready for Prep School.

Being prepared for the family business means holding esteemed degrees from elite universities, such as Archbishop Molly High, Fordham University, and a law degree from Albany Law School in 1982.

After being formally educated and rubbing elbows with both political allies and elitists like Kerry Kennedy, Andrew was ready for his first assignment.

The Democrats have established a mafia within the party, henceforth the reference will be either Democrat or Democratic Mafia with the connections made herein.

Governor Cuomo selected his son Andrew in 1982 to be both his campaign manager and his right hand during his bid for the governorship.

Here, little Andy learned how to elicit and manage campaign donations, and moved on to his father's top circle of policy advisors.

"I will find you some work for good money. "You have done well for yourself" - Don' Fanucci, Godfather Part 2

Mario Cuomo won his bid for Governor of New York, and remained Don Mario for three terms until 1994.

Andrew's political ascension was only matched by his lust for power, and his family connections.

Now that his father held power in New York, Andrew found work at good pay as an assistant to the district attorney in 1984.

Although Andrew soon left this position to pursue private law, he continued to work with his father as a top policy adviser, and his righthand man.

A powerful Democratic Mafia connection and friends of Don Mario were the Clinton family. This provided yet another opportunity for Young Andrew.

Bill Clinton was elected to the Presidency in 1992.

Andrew Cuomo filled a created position as an assistant secretary for Housing and Urban Development in 1993.

After an abrupt departure by then secretary Henry Cisneros (who happened to be under federal investigation), Andrew Cuomo was unanimously elected as the new secretary of H.U.D. .

The future Godfather used his new power point to push his social agenda - Mafia Style!

In the year 2000, Cuomo led an effort to strong arm Smith & Wesson America's largest manufacturer of handguns to alter their design and distribution.

He used his position at HUD to push for 'safer neighborhoods,' and trampled the Second Amendment.

The Godfather-to-be was learning quickly how to manipulate the system and grab power.

He soon became known as a bully, and if you didn't agree with him, he would destroy you - Much like Michael Corleone.

"The price of forcing our beliefs on others is that someday they might force their beliefs on us." - Mario Cuomo

Mario Cuomo was the left-wing radical of his time.

The Democratic party both embraced him, as well as feared Him - Much like a Mafia Godfather.

Mario Cuomo was often mentioned as a running mate for Bill Clinton, but it was determined that he was too Far Left for the time.

Andrew was following in his father's footsteps, but he was leaving an even bigger footprint…

Andy is hell-bent on social reform and centralized power.

It's almost as if he studied Marxism, because he knows exactly how to do it!

A Mafia system of hierarchy and henchmen working in much the same fashion...

Meanwhile, brother Chris Cuomo was cutting his chops as a journalist in the left-wing media.

This leverage on a propaganda machine became a useful tool to the Democratic Mafia.

Christopher Charles Cuomo currently offers "Cuomo Primetime " weeknights on CNN.

Don Mario passed his beliefs on how to run a family to his son Andrew, which in turn filled Andrew with ruthless ambition.

"One thing I learned from my father is to try and think as people around you think and on that basis Anything is Possible." - Michael Corleone Godfather 2

During his time as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under Bill Clinton, Secretary Cuomo forced government-sponsored lenders Sallie Mae and Freddie Mac to buy loans from defaulted borrowers.

This action has been directly linked to the subprime mortgage crisis and the Great Recession of 2007 through 2009.

In 1998, a Clinton appointed HUD Inspector General Susan Gaffney testified to a senate committee that she was a victim of escalating attacks on her office by Cuomo's key aides ( Mafia Style).

This included cooked-up charges of racism, insubordination, malfeasance, and general dirty dealings.

A year later, Gaffney's office said that 15 out of 19 goals were activities rather than accomplishments, and concluded that Cuomo had a crippling effect on HUD operations.

"I don't feel I have to wipe everybody out, Tom- Just my enemies."  Michael Corleone Godfather 2

In 2002, Andrew felt he had solidified his position in the Democratic Mafia.

With his father's full support, he was ready to run for governor!

He was a rising star. His name recognition made him an early favorite for the nomination.

He led in all the polls, as well as in fundraising - Which had always been his specialty!

Acquiring campaign donations and managing these funds was taught early to the Future Don.

Andrew Cuomo later passed these skills on to his third brother: Joseph Percoco.

His campaign took serious damage when he was publicly scolded by his father for his divisive comments made against then Republican Governor George Pataki under the cloud of the 9/11 attacks.

"I have sentimental weakness for my children, and I spoil them as you can see… They talk when they should listen." - Don Vito Corleone

Andrew sank in the polls, and he withdrew from the race.

Cuomo reemerged as Attorney General of New York from January 7th, 2007 - December 31st, 2010.

Once again, family influence came calling in the name of Andrew Cuomo…

On September 18th, 2009, President Barack Obama sent word to David Paterson that he believed Paterson should step away from the 2010 gubernatorial candidacy to make room for popular Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

The New York State gubernatorial election of 2010 saw Andrew Cuomo as a landslide victor over Carl Paladino, as David Paterson chose to step down.

Through the power gained by corruption .

Through the fear gained by power.

Through the control gained by fear .

The Godfather Andrew Cuomo has assumed control.

Andrew Mark Cuomo assumed the governor's office of New York on January 1st, 2011.

It’s where he sits today on the morning of his third term.

It took a little time for Don Andrew to start misappropriating taxpayer money.

You see, the bigger the tax levy, the more redistribution or reallocation of the funds can occur…

Henceforth, it is easier to hide!

In 2012, the governor used $140 million dollars- $40 million of which came from the Federal Disaster Relief Fund to pay for national tv ads promoting his new I Love New York campaign.

Boondoggle - scam - theft - Mafia

State officials called this a waste of taxpayer money, and a violation of Federal law.

Andrew Cuomo has been in endless litigation with the federal government, consistently spending your money.

In a posturing and propaganda effort, Governor Cuomo formed the Moreland Commission in July of 2013.

This commission was formed with the set intent of rooting out corruption and ethics violations in Albany.

It was a straight face ‘look you in the eyes’ lie!

Soon thereafter (and quite coincidentally), the Moreland Commission was abruptly and controversially disbanded by Governor Cuomo.

Ultimate power- Mafia Style -Untouchable.

The New York Times had this to say about it:

"…established to investigate corruption in the States scandal-plagued government the Moreland commission developed a long list of promising targets before it was disbanded by Governor Cuomo."  This article, titled The short life of an anti-corruption Commission published on 7-23-14 documents the resistance and roadblocks put up by the Corleone - I mean Cuomo Administration.

Governor Cuomo wins reelection in 2014 by a much smaller margin over Republican Rob Astorino.

Despite a low voter turnout, Astorino won most of upstate, but again, Upstate was overwhelmed by the city.

Political scientists have studied the effects of corruption on the electorate, and have concluded that it erodes confidence and participation.

In other words, they simply choose not to vote.

Author's Note:

Empire State Conservative Network is committed to change that. We hope you join us!

Also in 2014: As a Mafia Boss might say to his underlings, Governor Cuomo said this, " They have no place in the state of New York."

Shortly thereafter, The Exodus of Conservatives began!

As a side note, please stop!

We cannot afford to lose you…

As 2015 unfolded, The Godfather of New York unleashed his attack on the sacred document known as the Bill of Rights.

More specifically, the SAFE Act was passed as a school safety measure, when in fact it infringed on our right to bear arms!

The SAFE Act has been described as the toughest gun control measure in the nation.

The New York State Sheriff's Department said that they are opposed to this legislation for being far too broad.

But wait - There is more gun control on the way!

Imagine now if Don Corleone could disarm those who did not agree with him...

Complete power. Complete control.

As this epic film classic moves into its third and final hour, Don Michael Corleone and his lieutenants face a trial on corruption, murder, and extortion.

This happens to coincide nicely with the pay-toplay trial of 2016.

Intermission

The Mafia operates with a strict adherence to a code of obedience to the hierarchy of power.

It’s pledged not to assist the authorities in the investigation of crimes.

In 2016, the pay-to-play scandal orchestrated by The Godfather of New York goes to trial, and ends up with multiple convictions of Cuomo's top-tier advisors.

" Buffers? Yeah, buffers.. The family had a lot of buffers!" - Willi Cicci under oath in the Godfather Part 2

Michael Corleone could not be convicted, and Andrew Cuomo wasn't even implicated in either scenario.

These men were untouchable!

The following will demonstrate Andrew Cuomo's Godfather like relationships:

Cuomo nemesis Preet Bharara was the former district attorney of New York from 2007-2009.

Interestingly, Bharara was a liberal Democrat who gunned for Cuomo's head with every bullet he could find -And there were plenty!

Cloaked in a shield of Mafia-like corruption, the bullets could not find their mark…

The US attorney won convictions against two of the most powerful legislatures in the state.

Sheldon Silver, former Speaker of Assembly, and Don Skelos, former Majority leader of the State Senate were found guilty on corruption charges.

When Cuomo disbanded the Moreland Commission, Bharara set his sights again on Cuomo, but he could not bring down the Godfather of New York.

"Bharara keeps cutting off branches, but the tree still stands" - The New Yorker

" My father's third son, who I sometimes think he loves the most." - Andrew Cuomo

Joseph Percoco became family when he started working for Mario Cuomo at the age of 19.

This is where Andrew befriended Joe as a brother, much like Michael Corleone and Tom Hagen in the Godfather Part 2.

As a young man, Joe Percoco's loyalty to the family served him well, as he became a major contributor to the corrupt crime family.

Percoco has always been at the right hand of The Godfather, and has always been one of his top enforcers.

"Joseph Percoco, charged in Thursday's Federal bribery and fraud case, has long been a bruising political Enforcer, at times feared by those in the capital sphere." - Who is Joe Percoco?, by Matthew Hamilton of the Times Union, Published 9-22-16

Mr. Percoco has held many titles along the way in the Cuomo family: Campaign manager, advisor, lieutenant, Soldier...

The most fitting might be Enforcer.

After Joe accepted an executive position at Madison Square Garden, The Wall Street Journal reported that "he also continued to fulfill what was one of his top rules of state service - Enforcer." - Erica Jordan, 5/1/16

Joseph Percoco, Don Andrew's Enforcer, was indicted in September 2016. He was later convicted on multiple felony counts of solicitation of bribes.

This quote appeared in the Times Union, "It's nice to reach into my pocket and buy whatever I want," wrote Cuomo in response to Percoco's reluctance.

Joe said, " I'm game if this is what you want to do." - Matthew Hamilton.

The man lived in love and fear with the Cuomos, and didn't breathe without their consent or direction.

Joseph Percoco was sentenced to federal prison on Thursday, September 20th, 2018.

" What Godfather? I don't know no Godfather! I have my own family senator!” - Frank Pentangoli under oath in the Godfather Part 2.

Alain Kaloyeros might have been Hyman Roth of the Godfather movies.

Alain Kaloyeros, the former president of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, was assigned by the governor to oversee the efforts to revitalize the upstate economy.

Don Andrew has referred to him as his ‘economic guru.’

Kaloyeros was a key ally to Governor Cuomo. He was also the state's highest-paid employee.

The Godfather's economic guru was found guilty of crafting contract proposals that insured millions of dollars in taxpayer money went to two companies allied with Andrew Cuomo.

" Things my father taught me right here in this room: Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." - Michael Corleone Godfather part 2

Governor Cuomo's campaign fund raised over $5.8 million dollars in six months. Most of it came from both companies and lobbyists who put business before the state.

The Godfather always gets the biggest cut.

We know that .

So Andrew Cuomo knew nothing about it?

 Right...

The Godfather Part 2 ends with his buffers being eliminated, or going to federal prison.

In the closing scene, Michael is contemplating his next move in Part 3.

The Governor of New York's second term comes to an end with his buffers' going to federal prison... Or being eliminated!

In the closing scene, Andrew tightens his fist around Empire State Conservatives as he begins his third term as The Godfather of New York.

Stand Up New York!

Jeff Moore.
